Write Drunk, Edit Sober
So I've started this blog to share how I'm working with AI what I'm building with its help and how I see it aiding in better design. I suspect a lot of it will be obvious and similar to how lots of people use it now but hopefully I will be able to share some alternative ideas also.
I can't remember where I heard the phrase "Write Drunk, Edit Sober" but I feel it captures perfectly how I work with AI when writing.
My thoughts are often all over the place, jumping around and shooting off in tangents. And my notes reflect this, with arrows leading from one idea to the next. The flow abruptly interrupted by a random idea or coffee break. I would then agonise for hours trying to join it all together into a coherent message, often this would take longer than the initial ideation part.
The I realised I could write a gem in gemini to do this for me and now in a matter of minutes (or less) it restructures my messy thoughts into a coherent story that is so much easier to follow. Its not perfect, often the "artificial" comes through a little to much for me (dry and a bit to corporate), so I need to still dig into it and pull back some of my authentic humanity into it.
I didn't use AI for the copy for this first post, but did for the image*. I think its good to be open and honest where AI is being used so I will be stating when I use it in these pieces, as much to see how much I need it as well as for transparency.
